About the Foundation
The Academy of European Careers Foundation was created as a shared idea of young representatives of academic, civic, administrative and business communities who share two goals: strengthening Poland on the European stage and fostering a better understanding of Europe in Poland.
We believe that Poland’s place was, is and will be in Europe, and that integration within EU structures is the foundation of peace and prosperity on the continent. We believe that Poland’s membership of the Union is not only an opportunity but also a commitment to shape the international political, economic and cultural reality in line with our national interest and in cooperation with our allies and partners.
We believe that, facing the transformation of the international system, technological progress and socio-economic change, Europe — more than ever — should speak with one voice and actively shape the reality of the 21st century. We believe that the answer to new challenges should be the ambition, vision and courage of the European community. We believe that the enlargement of the Union to include Poland and other Central and Eastern European countries was a natural culmination of the fall of the Iron Curtain, which for half a century deprived the Old Continent, in the words of St John Paul II, of “the ability to breathe with two lungs: western and eastern”. We believe that the subjectivity of the region and Poland’s voice in the European debate are essential so that the Union’s direction of development reflects the values and interests of all inhabitants of the continent, and that the diversity of cultures and historical experiences is Europe’s wealth.
We believe that European integration is continually evolving and is not closed, and that membership of the Community is open to all European states that share the values of human dignity, freedom and equality.
To put our convictions into practice, the Academy of European Careers engages in public debate in Poland and aspires to educate and prepare people who understand Europe and are determined to pursue Poland’s interest within the Union. We believe that the current process of preparing staff for administration, EU institutions and the private sector does not match Poland’s real needs and ambitions. We see a gap in practical education that we aim to fill.
The Academy of European Careers Foundation was established on the basis of work on a European course prepared jointly with the SGH Warsaw School of Economics by the founders and leaders of the Academy.
